1. 360 Degrees Viewpoint in Kellebokka

Kellebokka, an estate bordering the Knuckles and owned by the Sri Lanka State Plantations Corporation, boasts a remarkable treasure – a 360-degree viewpoint at the hilltop of the Upper Division. This viewpoint offers a panoramic vista of the entire area, including the majestic Knuckles Range. Standing at 1,350 meters (4,500 feet) above sea level, it welcomes visitors and is open to the public. Prepare to be mesmerized by the breathtaking scenery that stretches as far as the eye can see.

2. Jodu Ella

Jodu Ella Falls, also known as ‘Bambarella Knuckles Falls,’ unveils a splendid natural spectacle. Twin waterfalls, each measuring 45 meters in length, cascade simultaneously from both ends of the mountain into the Mahaweli River via the Hulu Ganga River. The Moragaha River is the source, originating from Me Malai in the Knuckles Mountain range. Before reaching the falls, the water journeys through seven chutes and numerous pools.

The surrounding area is a haven for medicinal plants and diverse wildlife, from wild boar to the endemic lizard known locally as “dumbara and katussa.” While the top of the falls has faced some denudation concerns, the beauty of this location remains untouched, offering an exceptional adventure. To reach Jodu Falls, trek the last 1 kilometer from the border of the Knuckles Mountain range after a 24-kilometer journey from Wattegama via Bambarella to Panwila.

3. Black Pool Waterfall (Kalu Wala Ella)

A stream originating from the Knuckles Mountain range flows through the estate, crossing Bambarella Road near a junction. About 250 meters downstream from the bridge, a 30-meter waterfall, often referred to as Lebanon waterfall, comes into view. The water plunges into a pool in a straight fall, creating a captivating natural spectacle. This enchanting waterfall can be reached by traveling 5.5 kilometers from the Huluganga Ella Falls along the Panwila – Bambarella road.

4. Lebanon Ella

Hidden amidst the forest, Lebanon estate waterfall reveals a mesmerizing sight. Its cascading waters form a natural rock pool at the base, inviting visitors to take a refreshing dip and experience rejuvenation. Situated in Goomera estate plantation in the Panwila division of Kandy district, this waterfall is formed by a stream originating from the Knuckles Mountain range.

5. Thaliya Wetunu Ella

Thaliya Wetuna Ella waterfall, also known as Alakola Ella, stands tall at 50 meters and is nestled within Alakola Estate in the Knuckles Mountain range in Kandy District. The waterfall is formed by a tributary of the Hulu Ganga, originating from the Knuckles Mountain range. The name Alakola has an interesting history, dating back to the British Era when the area was under the planter Allen Collen, leading to the name “Alakola Watte” (Alakola Estate). To reach the base pool of Thaliya Watuna Ella, follow a footpath located about 3 kilometers along the road from the Hulu Ganga Bridge.

6. Gombaniya Trail

Gombaniya, the highest peak of the Knuckles Mountain Range, is a remarkable trekking destination situated in the Panwila division. At a height of 1,906 meters, Gombaniya offers a challenging yet rewarding trail for hikers and trekkers. While there are several false peaks along the way, the true Gombaniya peak stands about 500 meters away from the most well-known false peak. The trail is characterized by thickly grown bamboo, trees, and a river named “Kuda Oya” flowing between Gombaniya and Yakunge Hela.

7. Hunnasgiri Trail

Hunnasgiriya Mountain, located in Panwila division, Kandy district, is a special biodiversity zone standing at approximately 1,500 feet in height. The mountain is renowned for its beautiful waterfall, which originates from the region. Two routes lead to the Hunnasgiriya peak, one through Hatale State and the other from Panwila. The easiest approach is via the Panwil road, approximately 9 kilometers from Panwila.

8. Waterfall – Huluganga Ella

Hulu Ganga waterfall is a popular tourist attraction in Panwila division, Kandy, Sri Lanka. Originating from the Knuckles Mountain range, Hulu River forms an impressive waterfall in the heart of Huluganga town. This Huluganga Ella stands at approximately 75 meters in height, creating a stunning natural spectacle.

9. Hatale Waterfall

Hatale Waterfall is situated between the road to Hatale Mini World’s End and the road to Hatale Upper Division in Finley’s Private Plantation. This picturesque waterfall measures about 47.5 meters in height and is a must-visit natural wonder.
